Episode 5:

Strawberry Shortcake wants to have the perfect Thanksgiving, but all of her efforts are in vain when her friends fail to complete their tasks to her standards.

Episode five was the first episode in which I began to incorporate more video effects. At the time was in search of higher-end editing software (at that point almost anything was better than Windows Movie Maker), and I had a short time frame to edit the episodes because I was depending on 30-day trial software.

Episode 4:

The series began to grow in popularity starting with episode four. In fact, it is the only episode to surpass 7 million views!

Strawberry faces some unfriendly competition when three new citizens of Berry Bitty City open a bakery across from her cafĂ©. They seem like good company at first, but after their disastrous brunch something about them is off.

Upon shooting this episode during spring break of 2012, I was prevented from editing it because the computer I used, which was used by my entire family, didn't have enough memory left to hold the episode's thousands of pictures. To put the icing on the cake, the laptop died shortly afterwards, and if it weren't for my sister letting me borrow her computer, this episode would have never been uploaded, or not any time soon, at least. It was the first time I had ever uploaded an HD video given that our old family computer (which was eight-years-old at the time) didn't support higher quality projects.

As I always receive this question, the three girls introduced, Sarah, Kaitlyn, and Sally, are part of the discontinued Key Charm Cuties toy line. I got them for my 5th birthday, and I stated then that I was too embarrassed to voice them because they had big heads - oh, little Miranda. :-/

Episode 3:

Episode 3, the first Christmas episode of the series, was filmed during Thanksgiving break of 2011. It was the first episode where I began to give the episodes a real plot, incorporating drama and conflict in the sidelines.

Lemon Meringue and Raspberry Torte find themselves in a tough pickle when they forget to purchase Christmas gifts for their friends. They decidedly go to their shops and buy last minute presents until they're robbed of them by a mischievous snow bunny. The two girls are devastated until they discover an ad about a place called Christmasland, so they journey in search of this fabled world and mistakenly take a wrong turn and wind up in the backyard of two trouble-making girls. When Strawberry and the others become concerned, they tackle the difficult task of rescuing Raspberry and Lemon.

Episode 2:

Episode two, and the official return of the series, debuted on my channel in August 2011. School was about to resume (I was still homeschooled then) and I wanted to do one final activity before summer ended, partially out of boredom. That same evening, I put together some green boards and a blue cloth that I often use for chroma keying to simulate a campground for Strawberry and her friends.

The premise is that Strawberry and her friends' campout is brought to a halt when their pets escape in one of their cars and make a mad dash into the house of strangers - and not just any strangers - normal-sized ones. In an attempt to save them, Strawberry and Orange jump into the vehicle to stop it but find themselves trapped inside of the house instead. From here, they face multiple challenges while trying to find an exit and find assistance from a kind foal.

Fun Facts:

The stuffed cat from this episode is a plush toy from the K.B. toy store when it was still around. At the time I bought it, I thought it was a raccoon and named it "Muffin."

Since the first episode, I had gotten a new camera and was pleased with its better results. The quality still wasn't the best, but at the time it was astounding compared to my iCarly camera.

This is one of the rare times you see the ladybug in this series. Originally a friend of Custard and Pupcake, it made frequent appearances but then disappeared later in the series. This in part is because I misplaced the ladybug and couldn't find it until a couple years later; the ladybug came with a miniature Tinker Bell figurine.

Episode 1:

I created the pilot episode during Thanksgiving break of 2010. My initial goal in creating it was to shoot a much longer Strawberry Shortcake stop motion, but I didn't have a set storyline. As a result, that's why the whole thing is kind of a muddled mess and has no clear form of direction; I then titled it A Day in Berry Bitty City to make it appear as if this is what a typical day is like for Strawberry and her friends, and it stuck ever since then even though some of the more recent episodes span for more than just a day.

I shot the episode with an old iCarly camera (remember that show? It was my one of my favorites back in the day) that had such a low quality that the images and clips came out really blurred and unfocused. On top of that, it displayed the message "Too Dark" whenever I tried to take photos, and that was one of the most painstaking processes I've ever had to work through.

I built my set on two TV tray tables with hand-drawn images and construction paper supplying the backgrounds. Fitting the shots and playsets into such a small frame wasn't easy, and the many accidental reveals of my bedroom wall can be seen around the corners of the sets.
